Hyundai Heavy selects Quake and Korea Orbcomm to supply satellite communicators

How will satellite communicators help in heavy equipment tracking and monitoring?
Hyundai Heavy Industries has selected Quake Global, a manufacturer of satellite modems, and Korea Orbcomm to supply satellite communicators and airtime for its new Hi-Mate global communications system for heavy equipment tracking and monitoring.
According to Quake Global, Hi-Mate is an onboard vehicle monitoring and communications system that will allow owners and operators of high-value equipment to monitor key productivity, usage, location, and performance information. As an integral module in the Hi-Mate device, Quake Global's modems is expected to enable Hi-Mate to communicate through the Orbcomm machine-to-machine (m2m) network around the world.
Gene Song, CEO of Korea Orbcomm, said: "Hyundai has agreed to purchase modems and airtime from Orbcomm's country representative, Korea Orbcomm. A long series of field tests has proven that a Quake Global modem communicating with the Orbcomm m2m network is a very reliable and highly competitive combination in this industry. Hyundai plans to expand its telematics system to many series of its heavy equipment and to the after-market as well."
Polina Braunstein, president and CEO of Quake Global, said: "We are delighted that Hyundai has chosen to integrate Quake's satellite modems into its 'Hi-Mate' communications system.
